Marvel fans have slammed an unfair MCU recast, and we totally get where they're coming from.
Regardless of the TV or movie franchise, we’re all used to recasts, especially when it comes to the world of Marvel. Take, for example, David Hasselhoff, who once played Nick Fury, now made famous in the MCU by Samual L. Jackson.
One more fairly recent recast involves actress Emma Fuhrmann, who played Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man. She provided an emotional performance in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War before being blipped away by Thanos.

Cassie was 11 when she was blipped, and when she returned five in-universe years later, she was 16. In real life, if correct, Emma Fuhrmann would also have been 16 or 17 when Scott was reunited with Cassie in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
However, Emma Fuhrmann was replaced with Kathryn Newton in Avengers: Endgame, who also went on to reprise the role in other MCU productions. Yet, Kathryn Newton's real-life age would have been about 22 years in Avengers: Endgame.
With that in mind, Marvel fans on Reddit believe that this is unfair, sharing as much when LakeEffectKid_23 asked, “What has been the best MCU recast so far?”
“Now, the worst recast was replacing Emma Fuhrmann. It was just unfair, especially after her scene in Endgame, it was so emotional and she had so much chemistry with Paul Rudd,” said Laniger.

“Also, she looked like Paul Rudd,” replied DedHorsSaloon4 with AndiYTDE joking in response, "All she needed was the beard."
“It annoys me every time we watch Endgame. They should’ve stuck with Emma,” exclaimed and_you_were_there.
You can watch the entire Avengers ‘Infinity Saga’ on Disney Plus and decide for yourself whether the recast of Cassie Lang was unfair.
The next MCU movie to arrive in cinemas is The Fantastic Four: First Steps on 25 July 2025, which is the beginning of Phase Six.
